The tire nylon manufacturer Kordsa, which took over part of the former DuPont plant in Hixson nearly a decade ago, announced Tuesday it is investing $50 million to expand nylon production at its Chattanooga plant.

Kordsa Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Kordsa, said the expansion will add 200 more jobs in Chattanooga and increase its capacity to convert its products into tire cord fabric. The Chattanooga facility manufactures Nylon 66 yarn and ships it to North Carolina, where it is converted into tire cord fabric and sold to tire manufacturers across the United States. Vice President Kamala Harris traveled to Dalton, Georgia, on April 6th, 2023 to lift up the Carpet Capital as an example of how the green energy economy can help rebuild America’s manufacturing strength.

Dalton is getting 2,500 new jobs from one of the biggest new business investments ever in Northwest Georgia. Qcells is investing over $2.5 billion at its plant in the Carbondale Industrial Park and at another facility being built 40 miles south in Cartersville, Georgia.  Click here to read more.

Duracell Manufacturing plans to invest $25 million to expand its existing battery component-making operations in Cleveland, Tennessee, and create 25 new jobs. The expansion will support Duracell’s LaGrange, Georgia, site by providing strategic battery components supply and allow the company to meet and exceed its growing North American battery demand, according to the company. Formulated Solutions Cleveland, LLC will invest $43.6 million to establish manufacturing operations in Southeast Tennessee. Formulated Solutions will create 524 new jobs in Bradley County following its recent acquisition of the 455,000-square-foot former Beiersdorf facility in Cleveland, TN. The company plans to hire 380 new staff members and extend job offers to the substantial majority of the former Beiersdorf employees. Click here to learn more.

Big Valley Air will invest $1.4 million and create 30 new jobs in Tier 4, At-Risk Sequatchie County.

Through the expansion, Big Valley Air will construct a 17,000-square-foot facility at its existing operations on Little Ponderosa Trail in Dunlap. The new plant will house all the company’s parachute manufacturing and allow Big Valley Air to increase production and broaden its customer base.
