Nokian Tyres rolls out $174 million expansion, adds 75 jobs in Dayton, Tennessee

Nokian Tyres on Wednesday rolled out an expansion at its plant here that will help speed the company toward doubling its output and producing 4 million tires annually by 2024.

The $174 million expansion will add a new warehouse, create 75 more jobs at the factory, and put the plant at 475 employees by the end of the year, according to the company.

Tommi Heinonen, Nokian’s vice president of sales, said at the factory that the expansion is “a big day for us.”

“This is a remarkable milestone for the company, a huge step,” he said during a news conference. Click here to learn more.

The 28,000-square-foot vocational workforce center for construction trades will offer education and training for up to 200 Hamilton County high school students and TCAT adult learners.

PIE CENTER OPENS

After seven years of planning, fundraising, and construction, the renovated factory now known as the Bradley County Partnerships in Industry and Education (PIE) Innovation Center hosted the biggest gathering of manufacturing and political leaders ever in Cleveland on Thursday. By mid-October 2022, more than 150 high school students will be coming to the PIE center for half of their school day each day to be trained and work in a variety of technical and medical careers in programs designed by local industry leaders. Q-CELLS expands in Dalton, Georgia, plant with 470 more workers

One of the world’s biggest solar panel makers made it official confirming it will invest $171 million to expand its facility in Dalton, Georgia and add 470 more jobs in Whitfield County.

The Korean solar panel maker Hanwha Qcells, which already employs 750 workers at its 200,000-square-foot factory built three years ago in the Carbondale Business Park in Dalton, said by the summer of 2023 it will produce 1.4 gigawatts of solar modules per year made with Qcells’ next generation TOPCon cells.
